I got home from my San Francisco trip on a Monday evening. By Tuesday morning, I had already managed to damage my car trying to drive FORWARD out of my parking spot in the garage. Literally. It was all rather stupid. I’ve driven in and out of that spot for almost 10 years. The cement post has always been there. It has not moved. It’s painted bright yellow. And I’ve driven the same car since 2002. So the size of the care hasn’t changed either. Still, there was a frightening crunch sound, accompanied by a good dose of confusion. My car is now dented (again) and has several lovely streaks of yellow. Go me!
Side note: This is one of the main reasons why I can’t trade in my old car for a new one. I’d damage the new one within minutes by bumping it into some inanimate object. There’s just no point. Did I tell you about that time I reversed into a giant boulder? I’ll save that story for another time.
Needless to say, I already felt like I needed a vacation by Tuesday at noon. Honestly, I’m so much better at vacation than at life. I get into a groove when I’m on vacation, even though I’m away from my normal routine. I eat ice cream, daily. I make time to exercise regularly. I walk everywhere. I read books. It’s all very dreamy!
Maybe instead of working so hard on this blog, I should focus my efforts on finding a way of living the vacation life year-round. Perhaps I should seek out and marry an extremely wealthy man. Do you know any? I don’t. Or maybe there’s a way of me suddenly becoming an heiress to a disgustingly large fortune. How do I make this happen? Hopefully, this lavish life of vacation will come with a personal driver…
Well, I don’t know about you, but my holidays are definitely over now that it’s August. The return to reality is rather depressing, like the work I left unfinished, the bills that didn’t magically pay themselves, and a lonely, dusty apartment that hasn’t learned to clean itself. I’m focusing on the fact that the summer berries are still going strong and while I don’t have a personal driver, I can still have ice cream every day, if I so choose.
Let’s reward ourselves for going back to work, like adults, even though we all probably don’t want to, with a new August desktop calendar, free for you to download. Simply click the size of the image you need below and the image will open in a new tab. Then download that image by right clicking on it to save it to your computer. Find the file in your folder of Downloads and right click on the image title to set the image as your wallpaper/desktop image. It’s much easier than driving out of my garage, apparently.
